A prince of the Kingdom of Hoshido.

He is the younger brother of Ryouma, Hinoka, and Kamui, and the older brother of Sakura.

He inherited the "Fujin Yumi"—a sacred treasure of Hoshido—from his mother, Mikoto. Although he wields a bow, he is actually highly skilled with the sword; he is capable of landing a clean hit against Hinata, a samurai, and still practices swordsmanship with his older brother, Ryouma.

He has a very contrarian personality and struggles to openly acknowledge others. He possesses a strong desire for attention and validation, as well as a drive to rise in the world, yet he is prone to intense emotional fluctuations. He tends to belittle himself, believing his own abilities rely too heavily on the "Fujin Yumi."

That said, he often shows kindness—albeit in a clumsy way—to those with whom he has built a bond of trust.
