In this Danish suspense film, the foibles of the psychological helping professions are wryly surveyed. A woman has murdered her husband. That's clear enough. Now the woman is in a psychiatric hospital because it seemed clear to the judges that she was not fully competent. Her doctor, who is helping her a great deal, has problems of his own. First, he is against the cookie-cutter treatment practices of his hospital, second, he is on shaky mental ground himself. Then he violates his therapeutic ethics by carrying on an affair with the woman he is treating.

Svend Poulsen and his gang pretend to be a platoon of Swedish soldiers arriving at the castle where Ib is chained to the roof. During dinner that evening, the Swedish commander becomes suspicious, and soon the soldiers are fighting each other. However, Svend manages to free Ib.

Ullabella is a dreamy teenager who is in love with her teacher. But one day, when she refuses to do as he says, he slaps her. Ullabella tells her family about it, and then the case begins. Ullabella's mother and uncle, who is a politician, take the case all the way to the political level and demand at least an apology from the teacher. He refuses to give one, but a solution to the case is found nonetheless.

Outside the large hotel, there is a lot of activity. It is teeming with foreigners, buses arrive and depart, and indoors the air is filled with foreign languages. But if you look more closely, you will discover that the doorman, hotel porter, waitresses, and waiters are not "real" hotel staff at all, but just students who take on extra jobs in the summer to earn money for their studies and who live in the "hotel" themselves in the winter, which is actually a student dormitory called "Egmont."

Before that, however, he falls out with Baron von Listow. Hans goes on a drinking binge, while the baron challenges his friend to a duel. The friend sends Hans to Germany to play there. Several months pass, and the baron and Amelie are to be married. When Bierbaum finds out about this, he seeks out Amelie. Little does he know that Hans has returned from Germany.

However, she returns to her husband, and when Hugo later has his face disfigured in a car accident, he ends up committing suicide. Before doing so, he tells Jack that he and several others have also had relationships with Betty.
