Главный герой, которого все зовут просто Санечка, плывет по течению. Работы нет, жена ушла… Единственное, чего у него в избытке, — это верные друзья и природный дар относиться ко всем проблемам легко и беззаботно. Однажды Александр попадает в аварию — на своей машине он врезается в джип бизнесмена. Но надо же было такому случиться, что как раз в тот момент, когда это произошло, коммерсанта собирался застрелить киллер. Предприниматель был уже на мушке, и Санечка просто спас ему жизнь! А дальше закружило, понесло. Незадачливому актеру предлагают за большие деньги сыграть роль олигарха. По странному совпадению Санечка как две капли воды похож на человека, за которого должен себя выдавать. Вжившись в образ, Александр понимает, что существование «крутых» совсем не так безоблачно, как кажется со стороны. В конце концов он сам оказываеся под прицелом киллера. Но ему снова приходит на помощь его величество Случай!

Journalist Shurik arrives in the Caucasus in order to study local culture and folklore, the ancient customs and traditions of the people in this region. Per chance he meets and befriends a girl in a mountainous town, the beauty Nina, which the gouvernor, wealthy and powerful local Saakhov, is planning to marry — if not willingly then by force. Using the gullible journalist as a strawman, Saakhov and his henchmen (the "Coward", the "Fool", and the "Pro", a trio of comic antiheros) are able to kidnap Nina, all seems to work according to plan. But realizing that he had been deceived, Shurik, who fell for Nina, rushes to rescue his beloved one, for a happy ending.
