Behind Two Guns (1924)

Medicine Man Doctor Cutter and his Indian partner arrive in a town where mysterious stage robberies have occurred. Money goes out in a locked strongbox but at the destination the still locked strongbox is opened only to find the money missing and the stage was not held up. Using binoculars to watch the next stage carrying money, Cutter sees how the money is removed and he and his partner now set out to bring in the outlaws and recover the money.

Head cattleman Pete Kane and banker Jeff Sedley ambush the old man and frame the sheriff for his murder, but Scott is only badly wounded. Recovering consciousness, he tells Jean who the real culprits are. However, Kane seizes and imprisons her. Ultimately, Silent breaks out of jail, finds and frees Jean from her bonds, proves his innocence, and brings Kane and Sedley to justice. Naturally, he wins Jean's heart.

The Heart of Maryland (1927)

At the outbreak of the War Between the States, Maryland Calvert is loved by Maj. Alan Kendrick, son of a Virginia general, and Capt. Fulton Thorpe. Nancy, whom Thorpe has loved unwisely, follows him to Washington and commits suicide when she learns he will not marry her; as a result, Alan is forced to request his resignation. When Fort Sumter is fired upon, Alan, who admires Lincoln's principles, joins the Union Army though his father is among the Secessionist leaders; as a result, he is estranged from Maryland. Thorpe, who has joined the Confederacy as a spy, is responsible for Alan's arrest, but Maryland victoriously comes to his aid by ringing the alarm bell.
