The television program *Svátek melodií* (Holiday of Melodies) marked the 30th anniversary of Pragokoncert, the former Czechoslovak arts agency established in 1948, which represented socialist-era artists for both domestic and international stages. Leading pop stars of the late 1970s perform a selection of songs, including such once-famous hits as "Co takhle dát si špenát," "Kolotoč," "Klaudie," "Snad jsem se ti zdál," "Do re mi la," "Song se má hrát," "Motorest," "Hrajte starý rokenrol," "Chanson d’amour," "Malovaný džbánku," "Jsem tvá," and "Tentokrát se budu smát já." The Pragokoncert Grand Orchestra is conducted by Milivo Uzelac and Ladislav Štaidl.

The youth finally arrives with all his friends and a huge live bear from the circus where he works as an accountant. He is finally allowed in where he explains to the members of the directorate that he wants to work at the Institute, since he graduated in cybernetics and, besides, he has invented a machine for forecasting time of death. When the conniving research manager learns that their director is going to die in two days, he hopes to rise to his position.

The Haszler songs of Prague, so popular in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, have not aged. They are still sung in pubs and on construction sites, in short, everywhere. They also have their place in the love stories from old Prague, so beautifully told by Miss Veronika. Their heroine is Miss Stázi, who at first had no luck in love with the student Tadeáš. But then she fell in love with three gentlemen at once. The shy Mr. Alois, the cheerful Mr. France and Mr. Johannes, who seduced her behind the Horse Gate. But in the end she preferred the old but rich landlord. Three abandoned gentlemen nearly took their own lives under the Stone Bridge. But grief overcame them and the gentlemen settled down to marriages richly blessed with adorable children. And Miss Stasi? She ran away from the old man and returned to Mr. Franco when he came home from the army.
