A Goldoni style comedy which launched the movie careers of Trixia Gomez and singing sensation Rico J. Puno,. Vivian Velez was discovered and eventually became a major player in the industry as a producer and a star. Others in the cast are Marlon Ramirez, Anita Linda, Bella Flores, Angie Ferro and Marissa Delgado. The story is about a cabaret (a dance hall with taxi dancers) which opens in a fishing village sparking a major ruckus. It tells of a girl, who, because she is poor, joins the cabaret to be able to survive and support her younger sister (Andrea Bautista, the producer’s daughter) and brother (Bong Revilla who is at present an action superstar and Philippine Senator). The hypocrisy of the country’s rural life comes to fore. A visiting singer becomes the hapless girl’s knight in shining armor.
