A group of scouts is on vacation in the mountains, and the surrounding area is also a base for poachers and smugglers. One of the scouts encounters a poacher in the forest who is finishing off a deer he has wounded. The boy tries to save the animal, leading to a confrontation with the illegal hunter, who uses a weapon. Alerted, the group begins to pursue the bandit.

Franciszek Brodniewicz reprises the role of Duke Waldermar Michorowski he played in the 1936 "Tredowata." Here, he leaves his recluse existence to help rescue the victims of a great fire, and suffers severe injuries. In his delirious state, he believes he is being taken care of by his dead wife, and (amara Wiszniewska, who is serving as his nurse, thinks his statements of love are meant for her. He is subsequently forced to disillusion the girl when he becomes normal, and she drifts into a casual love affair, but later falls in love with the Duke's nephew, (Wojciech Wojtecki.) The Duke later takes his nephew's place in a duel with the rejected suitor.

Over the next few years, he passes on information about the situation of his wife and daughter. The professor knows that his suspicions were completely unfounded and that his wife devoted herself entirely to raising their child. After many years, he returns to Warsaw, where he starts working at a clinic and, together with Jerzy, his daughter's future fiancé, completes work on the serum. There is a chance to return to his family, but it may already be too late.

She ends up in jail when the diamonds on her neck are recognized as stolen. Holski and Torense are hiding from the police. The depressed Leszczyc does not want to marry the criminal's daughter, but the criminal past of Leszczyc's father soon comes to light.

Odrowąż finds caring attention and slowly recovers. Love blossoms between Mija and Odrowąż. Lost in ecstasy, they dream of a liberated homeland and marriage. Unfortunately, the prince's mother's selfishness stands in the way of their love, as she does not allow this misalliance. She takes her son away, leaving Mija in boundless despair.

The film was commissioned by the Propaganda Department of the Ministry of Military Affairs and has survived only in fragments (just 53 minutes out of the 2-hour-long film).
