Byttinger (1991)

Seven young people from the urban jungle are transported to an isolated mountain farm deep in the mountains. There are three girls and four boys. Since childhood, they have always been dealt the worst cards. They know more about prostitution, drugs, violence, and escape than they do about trust and love. Two social workers accompany them to the mountains. They believe that pure nature and new experiences can have a positive effect on the young people's destructive tendencies. But the mountains and isolation from the outside world hold surprises that no one in the group is prepared for.

What stories can old films and photographs tell? A movie camera, projector and 4 reels of developed film belonging to painter Edvard Munch, were donated to the Munch museum in Oslo some years ago. This find, along with the painter's photographical self portraits, written notes and letters, set the stage for "the narrator" (Frank Robert) to set out on a journey throughout Europe in the footsteps of Munch. Film about a woman's struggle in a male-dominated society in the late 1800s. Amalie Skram was one of our first female writers who fought woman liberation cause. In a society that did not accept that a woman could have its own independent work, it was difficult for a woman to work as a creative artist, wife and mother. The author's autobiographical novels "Professor Hieronimus" and "On St. Jorgen" underlies this film.
