Biography

Meiko Satomura (born November 17, 1979) is a Japanese retired professional wrestler. She is best known for her time in Japanese promotion Sendai Girls' Pro Wrestling, which she founded alongside Jinsei Shinzaki, as well as in American promotion WWE, and is considered a legend of 'joshi puroresu' due to her hard-hitting, traditionalist style of wrestling. Over the course of her 30 year career, she became a one-time AAAW Single Champion (in GAEA Japan), the inaugural and two-time Sendai Girls World Champion, one-time World of Stardom Champion, one-time KO-D Openweight Champion (in DDT), one-time PROGRESS World Women's Champion, and one-time WWE NXT UK Women's Champion. She retired on April 29, 2025 in Tokyo's Korakuen Hall.

Sendai Girls Joshi Puroresu Big Show In Osaka Sendai Girls Joshi Puroresu Big Show In Osaka (2017) Character: Meiko Satomura
Satomura scored a direct win over the Sendai Girls World Champion, and tried to issue a challenge to the champion before Hamada stopped her. Hamada suggested a match between herself and Satomura to determine the next challenger. Aja Kong said she wanted to challenge whoever comes out on top in the next World Championship match.
Gaea Girls Gaea Girls (2000) Character: Herself
This fascinating documentary is based around the Japanese wrestling organisation Gaea's rural training camp, and traces, in the main, the careers of four hopefuls. In charge are two magnificent specimens, the butch champion Chigusa Nagayo, still venting her hurt at the hands of her army father as she tries to whip her surrogate daughters through the pain and commitment barriers; and her sophisticated and slightly menacing Chairman. It's a gruelling, physical film, as you would expect, but the makers don't make heavy weather of it. And it certainly disposes of any idea that the game is faked.

EVE Wrestle Queendom EVE Wrestle Queendom (2018) Character: N/A
We're opening the show with War Games. There was a real intensity before the match got started as both teams surrounded the cage and brawled with one another a bit before being separated. Set a good tone of hatred early on. Emi Sakura is in first for the babyfaces and Blue Nikita for the heels. Nikita went for early pinfalls, which bothered me. I hate the idea that a wrestler wouldn't know the rules of a match they're in, especially on a big show like this. Heels attacked Emi from outside the cage, real dastardly stuff. Emi is a great face in peril. Heels win the coin toss which they did in real time, very old school. There was fun back and forth as the rest of the women came in. Emi was especially good throughout. Evans and Hayter looked quite good on the heel side, taking good bumps and having well timed cutoffs of the babyfaces. Laura Di Matteo has improved quite a bit, her offensive bursts were on point. Addy Starr, who had previously been retired, was good in peril and resorted

Stardom Queen's Fest Stardom Queen's Fest (2018) Character: Meiko Satomura
Stardom's events can almost always be split in half as their show structure is very predictable. Their undercard suffers due to the fact they have so many young wrestlers and they don't leave wrestlers off cards if they are healthy. So you're always going to get the rookie match and the big gaijin tag match, that's life in the Stardom World. But once you get past that, Stardom has some truly amazing wrestlers that would blow the roof off any building in the world if given the chance. Both title matches here delivered, not only in execution but they also left the stories open so no one will be left behind - the stories of Tam Nakano and Momo Watanabe will continue to grow. Whether you watch it on Stardom World or find the Samurai TV version, the second half is certainly worth tracking down, particularly the main event
