As he stands watching dumbfounded, an injured Austrian soldier clings to his feet, begging for some water. Dunant has heard about a nearby church serving as an emergency field hospital. So he races there in a bid to save the life of the still-breathing solider.

And the two do accomplish the reunion that they spoke of so inevitably. However, when the memories of their younger days return to the space between them, Miyuki disappears. This is a fleeting, pure love story of the two who loved each other, and yet passed by each other...

To support herself and her children, Ito carries goods from ships like the other women in the village. Meanwhile, the residents encounter rising prices for rice. The women are unable to feed their family due to the high prices of rice. The women ask a nearby rice store to sell rice at lower prices, but it fails. The price of rice continues to rise daily. Due to an incident, Ito and the other village women step up to the plate.
