Raymond Thomas "Ray" Cooper (born 19 September 1947) is an English virtuoso percussionist. He is a session and road-tour percussionist, and occasional actor, who has worked with several musically diverse bands and artists including George Harrison, Billy Joel, Rick Wakeman, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd and Elton John. Cooper absorbed the influence of rock drummers from the 1960s and 1970s such as Ginger Baker, Carmine Appice, and John Bonham.

On the back of the success of the album, Made in England, Elton John went out on tour to promote it. The 1995 leg of the tour covered fifteen European countries, but strangely missing out John's homeland of the United Kingdom.[1][2][3] John with his band then crossed the Atlantic Ocean for an extensive tour of the United States, playing forty-two concerts in just under three months,[4][5][6][7] including seven sold out concerts at New York City's legendary Madison Square Garden, which has become a staple venue for any Elton John tour. This is the live performance in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at "Estadio do Flamengo", November 25, 1995.
