Wrangler: Anatomy of an Icon Wrangler: Anatomy of an Icon (2008) Character: Self
The outrageous story of 1970s porn icon Jack Wrangler, and how he rose to the top of the gay, and then straight, adult film industry.
Z Channel: A Magnificent Obsession Z Channel: A Magnificent Obsession (2004) Character: Self
A documentary on the Z Channel, one of the first pay cable stations in the US, and its programming chief, Jerry Harvey. Debuting in 1974, the LA-based channel's eclectic slate of movies became a prime example of the untapped power of cable television.
Why Be Good?: Sexuality & Censorship in Early Cinema Why Be Good?: Sexuality & Censorship in Early Cinema (2007) Character: Self
Before the G, PG and R ratings system there was the Production Code, and before that there was, well, nothing. This eye-opening documentary examines the rampant sexuality of early Hollywood through movie clips and reminiscences by stars of the era. Gloria Swanson, Mary Pickford, Marlene Dietrich and others relate tales of the artistic freedom that led to the draconian Production Code, which governed content from 1934 to 1968. Diane Lane narrates.
