Biography

Choi Hyun who's real name was Choi Yoon Chan was born in Busan, Gyeongsangnam-do in 1929. He graduated from the Department of Physical Education at Seoul National University, and studied at a Dance Institute with Kim Hae Rang for about 8 years. In 1951, he made his debut as an actor with director Shin Kyung Gyun's 'A Bouquet of Thirty Million People', and in 1955 he opened his first dance institute. He founded Choihyun Dance Company in 1976, and served as a former professor in Seoul, the head of the National Dance Company, and the first president of the World Dance Federation Korea Headquarters. He died of a chronic illness in 2002.

Master Maeng is very proud that an influential family will soon be his esteemed in-laws when his loving daughter, Mi-yeon, marries their son. Unexpectedly the future son-in-law shows up at the wedding hall and he is not a cripple, but a healthy and handsome youth. Feeling embarrassed, there is no way but to wed the maid to him. The Wedding Day is a recreation of A Happy Day of Jinsa Maeng, a comical play by Oh Yeong Jin. The first Korean film to win an international film award, the Best Comedy Award at the 1957 edition of the Asian Film Festival (now Asia Pacific Film Festival).
