Anka's grandfather unsuccessfully struggles with progressive Alzheimer's, talking to his deceased grandson in between searching for a wiretap hidden, as it seems to him, in the house. The father, who, according to his mother's stories, is a diplomat traveling around the world, actually turns out to be an alcoholic who drank the last thing they had: an apartment. In an attempt to get justice and help her family, Anka, unbeknownst to herself, slides into the abyss of insanity so deeply that it seems there will never be a way back.

Irony becomes Tolya's only way to cope, so the characters and the world around them transform into grotesque versions of themselves: a nurse-bartender, a sinister cross seller, and an army of ninjas. But behind every humorous detail lies genuine pain.
