Biography

Dan Perlman is a comedian, writer, and director from New York City. He co-created, wrote, and starred in Showtime’s critically-acclaimed comedy series, Flatbush Misdemeanors. The series’ lauded two-season run holds a 100% Rating on Rotten Tomatoes, earning unanimous praise from outlets including The New York Times, Variety, Roger Ebert, TIME, and The Guardian. Dan made his directorial debut in the Flatbush episode, “boomerang,” which Vulture praised for its “masterful direction.” Dan also wrote and directed the award-winning short films, Cramming and Practice Space. Previously, Dan co-created and wrote the animated pilot That’s My Bus!, then ordered by FOX. As a stand-up, Dan has been featured on Comedy Central, named one of the New Faces at the prestigious Montreal Just For Laughs Festival, worked as a regular at The Comedy Cellar in NYC, and headlined venues nationwide, including The Kennedy Center in DC. Dan’s debut album, Emergency Contact, is a staple on SiriusXM, where he’s also been a longtime regular guest on Bennington. His writing has also appeared in The New Yorker.

Credits

Anthony DeVito: Straight Hoopin Anthony DeVito: Straight Hoopin (2025) Character: self
Hi, it's Anthony DeVito. Maybe you'll like what I made. For about 45 minutes I go on and on with jokes and stories about being poor, being a child, becoming an uncle, having a mom, climate change, Obama, reparations, the police, being middle aged, Gen Z, Stitch Fix, the insurrection and more! The whole special cost about $7000. And I don’t exactly have $7000 I can just throw around. My mom does need a new rack. So if you feel so inclined to throw me a couple shekels, here’s how you can do that.
That's My Bus! That's My Bus! (2015) Character: Jack
Bill Russell – a lovable, eccentric father, blissfully in his own world – balances family with his life's work and true passion: driving a city bus.
Flatbush Misdemeanors Flatbush Misdemeanors (2017) Character: Dan
Dan and Kevin, longtime friends, adjust to their evolving surroundings in the community of Flatbush, Brooklyn. A raw comedy of city life, this prize-winning short served as the foundation for what became the critically-acclaimed Showtime series, Flatbush Misdemeanors. Made on zero-budget, the first installment of Flatbush became Oscar-qualified after winning Grand Jury Awards in its film festival run. Critics have called it "funny, smart, inventive and constantly surprising" and "street-level filmmaking at its finest."
Lucy Schulman Lucy Schulman (2026) Character: N/A
After a crushing breakup, Lucy moves back in with her eccentric single dad and dives into bad dates, false starts, and growing pains.
Being Bublé Being Bublé (2025) Character: N/A
A deeply unqualified man is inexplicably hired as a Michael Bublé impersonator for a rich stranger’s party. Despite no resemblance, no singing ability, and just one week to prepare, he gives it everything he’s got. A hilarious, oddly inspiring documentary about effort over ability and the joy of letting folks believe.
