Biography

Richard Manwaring (born 20th century in the United Kingdom ) is a British sound engineer and record producer , who became internationally known through the production of some classic music albums by groups such as The Human League , OMD , Fischer-Z and Runrig . Richard Manwaring began his career in the early 1970s as a tape operator at Wessex and IBC Studios, later working as a sound assistant at IBC, where he learned his trade from senior engineers Damon Lyon-Shaw, Mike Claydon, and Andy Knight. His musical work ranged from large sessions with brass, strings, and rhythm sections to band-based recordings such as Status Quo . Later, he worked as an independent sound engineer, working on the mixing desk for various international music groups and solo artists. During his long career, he worked with such well-known bands and artists as the Bee Gees , Eric Clapton , Mike Oldfield , The Human League, OMD, and Van Morrison Since the late 1970s, Richard Manwaring has occasionally worked as a music producer. His work includes producing the 1978 album Impeckable for the music group Budgie , and the 1980 album Travelogue by the British new wave band The Human League . In 1981, he oversaw the two successful albums Architecture & Morality by the group Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark , which included the number 1 song Maid of Orleans (The Waltz Joan of Arc) , and the album Red Skies Over Paradise by the British rock group Fischer-Z , featuring singer, guitarist and poet John Watts . Manwaring produced another album in 1989, the album Searchlight by the Scottish folk-rock band Runrig . Since the mid-1990s, Manwaring has also worked as a freelance sound engineer with various institutions. Since February 2013, he has been co-owner and dubbing mixer of The Postroom . Founded with Mark Whitfield, The Postroom offers comprehensive audio dubbing capabilities, including voice-to-picture and 5.1 mixing.
