望郷は海を越えて (2000)

In the autumn of 1756, the Kuki clan is found in the mountainous fief of Sanda. It has been relocated from the seashore by the Tokugawa shogunate because of the clan's navy, known as the strongest during the age of civil wars and therefore regarded as a menace to the security of the new rulers. The lord of Sanda, Takamura Kuki, is determined to defend the fief as a land warrior, whereas Umihito Kuki, his younger brother, maintains the pride of a sea warrior and dreams of sailing out to unseen foreign lands notwithstanding the shogunate's isolation policy. Umihito is engaged to Princess Yu, a beautiful and lively daughter of the lord of Tanba-Ayabe fief. Although the match itself was made for the convenience of their families, they have known each other since childhood and are strongly bound by mutual respect and profound love.

In 1961, young Hermann goes to the British hospital to get medicine for his mother. Because of this, he ends up on the wrong side when the Berlin Wall goes up and is seperated from his mother. He is adopted by a very loving couple and grows up to become a world-famous composer. As the show opens, it is 1988, and he performs his newest piece, called "A Map Without Borders" in New York. Afterwards, he tells the tale of how he was seperated from his mother to the press. He hopes someday to be able to cross into East Berlin and find his mother again.

Imprisoned with his parents Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette at the Tour du Temple, it is believed that he was killed as well after his parents were executed, but he is now told that he was secretly saved and brought away, and the body of the child in the Temple was a substitute. The traveler is wracked with illness, and after passing over a ring bearing the seal of Louis XVI, he dies. Being ambitious, Gerald decides to make use of this piece of evidence. What fate awaits this young man claiming to be Louis XVII...? Rallying against callous fate, he rises up in a world where he is surrounded by people of ambition and treachery, and amidst that callous fate the one ray of light comes from Anne, the girl Gerald loves.
