John Peel's Record Box is a documentary film made by Elaine Shepherd, released on 14 November 2005 on Channel 4. It was nominated for Primetime Emmy Award. It is about a small private collection of the British radio DJ John Peel who died in 2004 at the age of 65. Peel's main archive contained more than 100,000 vinyl records and CDs. This smaller private collection, however, contains 143 singles - some of them doublettes - stored in a private wooden box representing some of his personal favourites. According to the documentary, there are no singles by Peel's favorite group, The Fall, because he kept them in a separate box. The film features interviews with John's wife Sheila Ravenscroft, radio DJs and artists like Mary Anne Hobbs, Sir Elton John, Ronnie Wood, Roger Daltrey, Fergal Sharkey, Jack White, Michael Palin and Miki Berenyi.

At The Royal Albert Hall, London on 8th April 2004 after some 15 months of planning with Paul Weller, Ronnie Wood, Pete Townshend, Steve Ellis, Midge Ure, Ocean Colour Scene amongst them artists assembled to perform to a sell-out venue and to pay tribute to a man who co-wrote many Mod anthems such as ""Itchycoo Park, All Or Nothing, Here Comes The Nice, My Mind's Eye"" to name just a few. Ronnie Lane was the creative heart of two of Rock n Rolls quintessentially English groups, firstly during the 60's with The Small Faces then during the 70;s with The Faces. After the split of the Faces he then formed Slim Chance and toured the UK in a giant circus tent as well as working in the studio with Eric Clapton, Pete Townshend and Ronnie Wood. 5,500 fans looked on in awe at The R.A.H as the superb evening's entertainment ended with ""All Or Nothing"" featuring a surprise appearance by Chris Farlowe on lead vocals.

The Rolling Stones: Live from Amsterdam 1995 (1995)

This 99-minute concert, which was recorded at the world-famous Paradiso in Amsterdam on May 26, 1995, captures the Rolling Stones in top form playing a strong 20-song set to a high-spirited audience. This was the first of four small-scale club shows that the band held on the European leg of their big-scale 1994/1995 'Voodo Lounge' world tour. These shows can be seen as a kind of response to 'MTV Unplugged' with the band playing rawer, stripped-down and sometimes unplugged versions of their well-known hits as well as rare songs. The Paradiso set list includes a number of rarities from the Rolling Stones' extensive back catalogue that are performed only seldom, including "It's All Over Now," "The Spider and the Fly," "Shine a Light" and "Respectable." The final song from this show, "Street Fighting Man," was used as the opening track on the band's 1995 album 'Stripped.' The full concert was released on DVD and SD Blu-ray as part of the 'Totally Stripped' deluxe boxed set on June 3, 2016.

Bringing together musical greats as far-flung as Johnny Cash and Eddie Vedder, The Clancy Brothers and Lou Reed, the four-hour show celebrated a truly remarkable lifetime of songs in front of a sold-out audience of over 18,000. Warmly dubbed the Bobfest by participant Neil Young, the show was broadcast around the world and featured a cast of musical notables performing carefully chosen and often surprising selections from the incomparable Dylan songbook. At evening's end, the man of honor himself appeared on stage and gracefully brought it all back home again. In a world where all-star celebrity gatherings have become commonplace, the Bob Dylan celebration stood out as, first and foremost, a legitimately memorable musical event.

The Rolling Stones - Welcome to Shepherd's Bush (2024)

A once-in-a-moment recording of the rock legends as they performed a surprise gig at the iconic Shepherd’s Bush Empire in June 1999. Announced only as they were preparing to play two nights at nearby behemoth Wembley Stadium that same month, it saw a small crowd of 1800 lucky fans treated to an intimate show in which the band eschewed their big hits in favour of rarely heard gems. This was a gig with many firsts; songs included Saint of Me, I Got the Blues and Brand New Car, while Melody was performed for the first time since 1977 and Moon Is Up brought to the stage for the only time in the band’s live career. Sheryl Crow, who opened the show, joined the band for a special rendition of Honky Tonk Women. As Mick Jagger shouted from the stage that night “If you want to see the hits, go to the big place down the road”. As promised, they didn’t disappoint.

It was a unique occasion that was fortunately captured on camera. In November of 1995, the Rolling Stones released the acclaimed album 'Stripped,' their second release on the Virgin Records label after 1994's 'Voodoo Lounge.' The concept for 'Stripped,' a studio/live hybrid album with stripped-down instrumentation, was conceived as a kind of response to 'MTV Unplugged' while the band was on their big-scale 1994/1995 world tour in support of 'Voodoo Lounge.' A total of four stripped-down concerts were held at small venues in Amsterdam, Paris and London, and recorded for the album 'Stripped.' The concert that was released under the title "Live from Paris 1995" on DVD and SD Blu-ray as part of the 2016 'Totally Stripped' deluxe boxed set took place on July 3, 1995 at the Paris Olympia, a venue with a capacity of about 2000. Three songs from this intimate concert were included on the original 'Stripped' album, namely "Shine a Light," "Let It Bleed" and "Angie."

As part of their 1994/1995 Voodoo Lounge world tour, the Rolling Stones gave a handful of small-scale, stripped-down concerts in Europe as a kind of response to 'MTV Unplugged.' This show that took place on July 19, 1995 at the Brixton Academy in London, a venue with a capacity of about 5000, was the final of a total of four club shows. The other shows were held in Paris and Amsterdam, and all of them were recorded for a forthcoming album, which was eventually named 'Stripped' and released on November 13, 1995. Two songs from the London show made it on the album, namely "Dead Flowers" and the Bob Dylan-penned "Like a Rolling Stone," with the latter also being released as the lead single off the album. "Black Limousine" and "Live with Me" from this show were chosen as the B-sides for the singles "Like a Rolling Stone" and "Wild Horses," respectively. The full Brixton Academy concert was released on DVD and SD Blu-ray as part of the 'Totally Stripped' deluxe boxed set on June 3, 2016.

Totally Stripped is a newly revised version of the documentary that was originally made to coincide with the release of The Rolling Stones Stripped album released in November 1995. It tells the story of the two studio sessions and three live shows that made up the Stripped project on 4 Blu ray discs. This followed the conclusion of the mammoth Voodoo Lounge tour and found The Stones reimagining tracks from their back catalogue in pared back versions alongside a couple of carefully chosen covers in the studio and doing smaller scale club gigs to showcase these versions, which was a marked contrast to the huge arenas and stadiums that had hosted the Voodoo Lounge tour. This new version of the documentary includes previously unseen footage and lays bare the inner workings of both The Rolling Stones and of some of their best loved tracks. Rolling Stones fans have been gifted with a number of exciting and at least relatively rare releases culled from the Stones' supposed "vault" over the past several months, including The Rolling Stones: From the Vault - Hampton Coliseum - Live in 1981, The Rolling Stones: From the Vault - The Marquee - Live in 1971, The Rolling Stones: From the Vault — Hyde Park Live, 1969 and The Rolling Stones From the Vault: Live at the Tokyo Dome , and now one stop of the Stones' 1982 tour is documented in this extremely high energy show culled from a Roundhay Park in Leeds. This was a swan song of sorts for the band, at least from a live performance standpoint and at least for a while if not forever, and it seems that the boys wanted to go "out" on a high note of excitement. Mick is in a lather from virtually the get go here, strutting and posing in his inimitable way through a set that draws largely but not exclusively on the then recent Tattoo You.
