He recognises hypocrisy: people say something different from what they really think. He encounters sycophancy and calculation whether he stays in the country or moves to the big city.

This forgotten detective story starring Svatopluk Beneš focuses on those ills of the past regime that were allowed to be glossed over - mainly the theft of socialist-owned property and illegal business. Criminals here come across illegal machinations in the hospitality industry, foreign guests are even offered sexual services... But the youth-friendly story unfolds lazily, unimaginatively, emphasizing an excess of dully delivered dialogue that replaces action and suspense.
Vrah zo záhrobia (1967)

The detective case of Captain Jakubec and his colleague Lieutenant Michalek takes place in a small town where the auditor Burian dies after drinking a health syrup. The doctor concludes that it was a heart attack. However, the exhumation of the corpse confirms the suspicion that Burian was poisoned. The auditor's young wife and her lover are the primary suspects. Other candidates for the role of the perpetrator include the manager of the café Orlovský, who asked Burian to destroy the falsified statements in exchange for a bribe, and the managers of two stores where the shortage was discovered. However, the network of suspects continues to expand...

Wandering through the forest, a woodcutter finds a golden fern whose seed turns into a beautiful woman - they fall in love. After getting drunk in a village feast, he gets to sign up to the army. The fairy gives him a shirt to wear and asks him to swear he will never abandon it. At the war front, he falls in love with the the colonel's daughter and will have to perform various feats to get her attention.
Romeo, Julie a tma (1960)

Pavel, a young student living in Prague in 1942, hides a Jewish girl in his apartment building's attic. Amidst the brutality of the occupying German army, love blossoms between the two. He is her only link to the outside world. Then the two are discovered by Pavel's mother, who forces the residents of the apartment building to decide whether Hana can remain.
